In 2019, the podcast Dolly Parton's America had an episode addressing the question of whether the narrator's focus on Jolene's beauty and desirability is indicative of her own attraction to Jolene. Onstage in 1988, Parton told the audience that "Jolene" was a true story and the reason she did not like to sing it too often. Throughout the song, the narrator implores Jolene "please don't take him just because you can." I'll be outfitting my theater with these little guys since funds are tight and they are honestly better than anything I've ever heard in or above their price range up to $100 each. The stereo imaging is also something I'm eager to hear as well sine it is already very good. I'm really eager to see how the bass/midrange sounds since it was only OK in my tests (shocking since they were sat in boxes). I'll do another review (if you can call my ramblings above a review) when they get installed in the theater as that will be a much tougher test since they will be around 7 feet apart. I now wish my Pioneer AJ speakers had tweeters this good. I can't believe they sound as good as the do for $50 each. In conclusion I thin Monoprice has outdone themselves with these. I'll have to get them in room and calibrated with the subs to get a full picture, but overall I'm pretty sure I'll be happy with them. I played a few blu-rays with HD audio to get a sense of how they'll handle dialog since that is going to be a major part of their job and was satisfied. I like this one as a test because there is a background triangle, chime, thumb cymbal or something that has a very sparkly sound to it and it is a great test for tweeters. It also had the hiss, but I'm not surprised as I've heard this track on multiple mediums and it has always been present. I also listened to Black Sabbath's Solitude which is a very mellow track. Not really a track for testing speakers, but I am and always will be a metalhead so it was a necessary inclusion. Sepultura's Roots Bloody Roots sounded like it should. The only track that sounded that way so I'm not sure if it really counts since it's an mp3. Radiohead's Paraniod Android was especially bright. ![]() Not sure if this is due to the MP3 (320kbps) or the tracks themselves. I also listened to some of the Radiohead and Sepultura (when Max was with the band) and it sounded a bit bright. The stereo image on these tracks is wonderful. I also listened to Shesmovedon and How is your life today? by Porcupine Tree (FLAC) and again they sounded fantastic. This is very surprising since my ghetto way of testing is hampering the bass output considerably I'm sure. Great track and the speakers sounded nice and full just as they did in the other recordings. ![]() I also listened to Hey You by Pink Floyd (FLAC) and again the clarity was very pleasant. I've missed this clarity with my Pioneer towers (which I still really like). His slight taps are nice and clean on these speakers. It has a lot of emphasis on Danny Carey's drums, especially the symbols. I listened to Fur Elise and excerpt from Symphony #7 which sound great, but now I'm fully aware of how bad that recording is with the annoying hiss. I noticed a slight hiss that wasn't present before in my copy of Best of Beethoven (FLAC). Well, I put on some of the tracks I usually use for this sort of thing and realized that these tweeters are much more revealing than anything I currently own. ![]() Woofer 8" aluminum cone with rubber surround ![]() ![]() ![]() At some point it felt just like one dramatic scene chasing the next, so it all was very much for the sake of it and the authenticity was kinda gone. So realism is a crucial component or I should maybe say the lack of realism unfortunately and this is what eventually destroys the movie. And let us keep in mind: This is only the very first day of her work. Then the child is suddenly alive, but another character is suddenly dead. The interpreter has to help her with giving birth. A women of the enemy group is pregnant, on the verge of giving birth. She and her unit of soldiers meet a group of enemies, possibly terrorists. This is the tale of an interpreter who faces the most unusual first day at work in her new profession. The film is partially in the English language and also in Dari, so you may want a good set of subtitles. Actually, it is only his second work and second short film as a director, so quite a success I guess. It was directed and co-written by Henry Hughes and he scored his first Oscar nomination for that. "Day One" is an American 25-minute short film from 2015. UPDATE: "Stutterer" took the Oscar for Best Live Action Short. The film is not gratuitous in its violence but it's a situation that is bleak and depressing.but also exceptionally well made and one of the most unusual shorts I've ever seen. I could say more but you'd just have to see it for yourself to know what I mean. ![]() As I said above, this is a very traumatic film and one I would not want younger viewers to see. But it's a very, very bad labor and the interpreter cannot imagine anything good coming out of this.and she's probably right. So not only will the interpreter have to interpret but because of the Muslim culture, the men in the group are not allowed to see the woman in labor. This is because not only is one of the men killed by some sort of explosion but subsequently they come upon a family and the wife is dying because of a very, very complicated pregnancy. Unfortunately, this first encounter will clearly be among the most traumatic and difficult of her military career. A new female interpreter has just arrived and is about to go on her first assignment. The story is set in what you assume is Afghanistan-though I don't recall the film even mentioning where the American soldiers were stationed in that general area. The fact that it made such a big impact is a good thing.but some will find this all a bit unpleasant. It's quite timely and very well done but I noticed a lot of folks cringing and reacting viscerally to this film. This film was definitely the most difficult to watch of all the nominees for Best Live-Action Short. ![]() ![]() ![]() This guarantees your experience AND your photos will be unique to your relationship and personalities. When you’re not looking for a venue to host 75 (or 100, or 200) other people, you have so many more venue options! Eloping at the top of a mountain, in your own backyard, or at a cute vacation rental with a killer view are all possibilities. There are more opportunities to elope in unique locations. With less moving pieces and less guests to accomodate, these timelines feel more relaxed than a larger event. A more flexible (and often shorter) timeline also means you can sleep in, have coffee and/or get ready with your partner before saying your vows. Because guests aren’t sitting in a reception venue waiting for you, you can spend as much time as you like with your photographer taking epic elopement portraits. There’s more flexibility in your timeline. This means you can spend a little more on the venue, vendors, and plans that are most important to you. Therefore, expenses are often lower, too. As I mentioned above, elopements often require fewer vendors and always have fewer guests. Because there are often less vendors to hire and communicate with, smaller (or no) wedding parties to corral, and fewer details overall to plan, elopements can be much more relaxed. Florists, planners, hair and makeup artists, officiants, ceremony musicians, bakers, caterers, and entertainment are all common vendors for large weddings but elopements generally don’t include all of the above. Most large, traditional weddings include balancing a list of logistics (read: things to plan and execute) as well as multiple vendors. Elopements can be less stressful than large weddings.Would you rather have a picnic and champagne toast with your spouse after your ceremony? You can do that Would you prefer to travel to a waterfall for extra portraits without feeling like you’re abandoning your guests? We can do that, too. Eloping allows you to focus on your partner, your promises to each other, and the details and moments of the day you both envisioned. While I love a larger traditionally-sized wedding, more guests and larger wedding parties often require more attention from the two people actually getting married. If you find yourself on the fence between eloping and hosting a bigger, more traditional wedding, or are asking the question, “Should I elope in Vermont?” I hope the reasons rounded up below will give you some clarity. This has been especially common since the disruptions of COVID-19. For others, they’ve wavered back and forth between a bigger ceremony and full reception. I am finding myself drawn to couples who prefer to celebrate their relationship uniquely and intentionally. Elopements often allow for more flexibility and extra time for us to be a little more creative and intentional with our time together. However, it’s become apparent to me through the years that elopements and smaller weddings have always held a slightly larger sliver of my creative heart. After years of owning my own business, I’ve documented a multitude of elopements, micro weddings, non-traditional weddings and traditional weddings and I have loved every moment. When I asked Caroline how it felt to marry the love of her life, she simply said, “It feels sweet.”Ĭongratulations, you two! Unfortunately, being tethered to those cords often means that desk areas can become cluttered, cords become trip hazards, and the aesthetic of the room is lost. And while a lot of companies are beginning to use wireless technology for many things, the fact remains that cables and wires are still a fact for many work environments. Offices are about work and productivity, but more and more it’s being discovered that people can’t be productive if they don’t also get some down time as well. For those that like to work in a more relaxed atmosphere, this can mean comfortable seating, nooks, and libraries, while for those that prefer a more fast-paced environment it may mean using furniture that is designed to bring groups of people together through its use. Try to read PMP online forums where exam passers are more than willing to share their exam experiences. To be able to overcome this, it is wise to learn from others. But PMI adds new topics on an ongoing basis, so it's difficult to know what lies ahead on your exam. Many popular exam prep books cover these topics. There are topics on the exam that are not mentioned in the PMBOK Guide or the Agile Practice Guide but may appear on the exam. And don't forget to study the PMBOK Guide Glossary.Īs boring as that may seem, you'll get to know and understand the terminology you need for the exam. Usually, one good exam prep book and one course are enough to complement the PMBOK® Guide. Too many books will, in fact, confuse you.
